The planned investment of the Port Authority of Slavonski Brod in the operational part of the port area includes the construction of a vertical shore and two docks, berths number four and five, which continue on the already built vertical shore and the third berth, then the construction of RO / LA terminal, container terminal with auxiliary facilities, hydrant networks and power lines with outdoor lighting.
SLAVONSKI BROD - The works that are in progress in the area of the Slavonski Brod river port, and are taking place as part of the project "Construction and improvement of infrastructure in the Port of Slavonski Brod", are currently going according to plan.
The project is worth almost 110 million kuna, which makes the construction site located four kilometers southeast of the town of Slavonski Brod, on the left bank of the Sava River in the Bjeliš Industrial Zone, one of the most expensive and largest in this part of Croatia. Following the Public Procurement procedure, on 20 July 2018, a works contract was concluded with the contractor GH Holding d.o.o. from Ljubljana, and the estimated deadline for completion of construction is the end of October 2020.
The planned investment of the Port Authority of Slavonski Brod in the operational part of the port area includes the construction of a vertical shore and two docks, berths number four and five, which continue to the already built vertical shore and the third berth, then the construction of RO / LA terminal, container terminal with auxiliary facilities, hydrant networks and power lines with outdoor lighting. All this will significantly improve the working conditions of the operational part of the port and increase the amount of cargo for transhipment, but also, hopefully, encourage industrial development.
The following has been built so far:- vertical bank of berths 4 and 5 in the length of 230 meters with precipitation drainage and water supply for the needs of drinking water supply boards, hydraulic works in the Sava riverbed in front of berths as excavation and transport of materials to the intended disposal site
- 850 meters long industrial track and industrial road and parking for trucks on an area of 13,500 square meters
- hydrant network with pumping station for the needs of fire protection of the entire operational part of the port
- stormwater drainage system of the entire operational part of the port
- works related to the electricity supply of the port as a construction of a substation with associated equipment, power lines and part of the public lighting system.
The importance of the Port of Slavonski Brod is largely in its location on the border of the Republic of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and it is the first and only international port of entry of the European Union. It 'lies' on the railway traffic corridor ten and is located in the immediate vicinity of its junction with the road corridor 5C. As such, it connects river, road and rail transport in this part of Europe. The port is connected to the road and railway network and enables transhipment and storage, as well as redirection of cargo to inland waterways to the Danube and the Black Sea. In addition, the Port of Slavonski Brod is connected via a railway network with the largest Croatian seaports - Ploče, Split, Zadar and Rijeka.
Let us remind you that the total value of the port infrastructure construction project is HRK 109,522,655.89 without VAT. The project is partly co-financed under the third call of the CEF (Connecting Europe Facility) in the field of transport in the amount of 56.74 percent of eligible costs or 6,625,741.00 euros, and the rest is secured by a loan from HBOR and from the Port's own funds SB administration.
