The final conference of the successfully completed EU Project "Construction and improvement of infrastructure in the port of Slavonski Brod" was held in the premises of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce in Slavonski Brod on June 16, 2021., as a review of everything that was done during the project from March 1, 2017 to May 31, 2021.
The press conference was organized by the Port Authority of Slavonski Brod, with the support of CINEA (Executive Agency for Climate, Innovation and Networks), DG MOVE and the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure.
The value of the project is 109,522,655.89 kuna + VAT. The project is partly co-financed under the third call of the CEF (Connecting Europe Facility) in the field of transport in the amount of 56.74% of eligible costs or 6,625,741.00 euros. Another part was secured by a loan from the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development and also from the resources of Port Authority of Slavonski Brod.
The final conference was presented by the Director of the Port Authority of Slavonski Brod Mr. Marijan Jurić, Mayor of Klakar Mr. Tomislav Pendić, Head of the CEF - Transport Unit Mr. Cristóbal Millan de la Lastra Stromectol, European Coordinator of the Rhine-Danube Core Network Ms. Inés Ayala Sender and the Assistant Minister of the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, Ms. Duška Kunštek.
The Director of the Port Authority of Slavonski Brod, Mr. Marijan Jurić, hosted the present participants and thanked all those who participated in this project. He pointed out that he was satisfied that the project was successfully completed and ready for the customs free zone. Sava waterway is one of the most important Croatian waterways in the TNT network and it makes the port of Slavonski Brod extremely important, said the Assistant Minister of the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, Ms. Duška Kunštek. She also added that it is a port in Croatia that is of European importance.
The main objectives of the project are to upgrade the basic port infrastructure, redirect cargo from road and rail to inland waterways, encourage the integration of inland waterways into the EU transport network and the logistics chain, increase port capacity and develop economic activities and operational capabilities of the port. improving the operating conditions of the operational part of the port, increasing the amount of cargo for transhipment but also starting industrial development.
During the final conference, the results and activities of the project were presented and it was emphasized that all project goals were achieved.The conference was held in compliance with all prescribed epidemiological measures. After the press conference, a visit was held to the finished port of Slavonski Brod.
